A DIFFERENT ALL-NIGHTER EXPERIENCE

I’m sure it wasnt what Lionel Richie ” all night long ” was about however ……

This past weekend, while most people were out dancing or spending quality time with loved ones, I found myself at A&E with a family member, through the night. It was a deeply impactful experience that opened my eyes to many things, and here are my reflections, in no particular order:

First and foremost, I was struck by the relentless hard work of the NHS staff. Their commitment is truly admirable.

Secondly, the compassion, professionalism, and genuine care they display are just a few of the qualities that make them exceptional.

Moreover, it became painfully clear how much more investment the NHS needs to enhance its services, especially as I witnessed elderly patients waiting for hours in corridors for treatment.

I also observed several individuals who were there alone —a thought-provoking reality that I found myself contemplating, without casting judgment.

This experience made me miss my usual morning routine of walks, swims, and personal downtime. More significantly, it reinforced a principle that I hold dear:

We must take action today, pick up that phone and give someone a call !!

Always reach out to others, as you never know who might find themselves alone in A&E,

And take care of our own health so that we can be there for others when they need us.

On a lighter note, Leeds United have exited the FA Cup, allowing them to concentrate winning the league; Wakefield Trinity are on their way to Wembley; and England claimed victory over France at Twickenham.
