While catching up after a swim by the lake this week, one of the early morning crew mentioned she was going shopping at Meadowhall the next day, which sparked my thoughts.🤔🤔
Meadowhall Shopping evokes poignant memories for me, reminding me of last-minute Christmas shopping 🛍️ adventures with Wayne Bates. Those moments were often followed by enjoying a few too many 🍺 beers 🍺
However, it also represents a bittersweet chapter in my life, as it brings back memories of my Mum during her final days. My brother Phillip and I were driving up the M1 after he picked me up from East Midlands Airport, making our way to Wakefield to see her. Mum sadly died 😢😢 just as we were passing Meadowhall, approximately thirty minutes from our family home.
The reason I’m sharing this is that I was living abroad at the time and had initially planned to return to the UK a couple of days earlier. I often reflect on that moment with regret, which serves as a reminder to seize the day and take action promptly—including sharing a few beers with that good friend !
